D'Oh! - The Simpsons Themed Food

I have a fun post for you this week!  One of my friend's favorite show is The Simpsons and it also happens to be their birthday.  So why not make miniature themed Simpsons food for them?!

They requested the classic Homer donut and of course I had to make a dozen! I also added a six pack of Duff Beer because it's classic Simpsons. While not part of The Simpsons world, it still went along with the look, and made a hot dog on a donut bun since they love hot dogs.

Just like last time, I created a video tutorial for you!  Please forgive me if my editing and colors are off, I'm still getting a hang of this :P Enjoy!

Cake Stand Tutorial

A tutorial for the cake stand I made last week was requested, so I thought I'd share it with you.  Sorry that everything has been taking longer to post, it's hard to find a chunk of time to do everything, plus  filming and editing Youtube videos definitely have a learning curve.

This is a pretty simple scalloped border cake stand that can be easily made more elaborate.  If you make it, I would love to see the results!

Carrot Cake & Tutorial

The Micro Bakery polymer clay carrot cake1

As usual, I was browsing the interwebs for some inspiration when I stumbled upon GimmeSomeOven's beautiful carrot cake, so I made a miniature version!  It's a bit hard to tell on these photos, but up close in person you can see little bits of orange clay in the cake that are supposed to be carrot shreds.  Two of these will be listed on my store as soon as I am able to find an appropriate box to ship this in.

I made these simple cake stands from objects found around the house.  The flat top of the cake stand is made of clay with a sheet of paper glued to it so the paint would glide on smoothly and without streaks.  Then I cut out a scalloped edge and glued that to the side.  The base of the stand is a golf tee cut to a scale appropriate length and glued with a big dollop of glue.  Once everything was dry, I painted the whole thing with a few layers of thinned out acrylic paint.  You can either use water or isopropyl alcohol to thin out your paint.

For this miniature, I did something completely new and filmed the entire process!  Below I put together a tutorial for it and hope you enjoy it :D
